Host Family Agreement

_____________________________ (hereafter "Student"), _____________________________ (hereafter "Host Family"), and ________________________ (hereafter "Facilitator") hereby agree to the following:

The Host Family agrees to…

Pick the Student up from/drop the Student off at the airport.

Provide the Student with a private bedroom featuring (at minimum), a bed, a closet, a desk, a secondary source of light, and a window.

To provide, at minimum, three balanced meals a day. Should the Student choose to buy their own food, the cost will defer to the Student.

NOT to change daily rituals, chores, meals, services, or language use to accommodate the Student's personal tastes or preferences.

To be respectful of the Student's religion, dietary restrictions, identity, and study requirements.

To include the Student in activities, games, trips, community, and culture.

Not to leave the Student alone for {amount of time} or longer.

Not to use the Student as a babysitter or pet sitter.

Not to request money or favors from the Student.

To ensure that the Student is offered all medical and nutritional requirements.

To accept only room and board payment from the Student, and no money otherwise.

Not to offer to, engage in, or condone illegal behavior from the Student.

To report to the Facilitator (and any required authorities) any medical emergencies, illegal behavior, arrests, injuries, or major altercations involving the Student.

To immediately notify the Facilitator of any major changes to the household such as illness, death, financial loss, unemployment, upcoming trip, or new household member.

The Student agrees to…

Abide by the rules of the Host Family house, including diet, language, activities, chores, curfew, rituals, and services.

To be respectful of the Host Family's members, home, culture, religion, identity, and property.

To pay for or replace any property that has been damaged or lost by the Student.

To pay for room and board to the Host Family by {date}.

Not to engage in illegal behavior.

To invite guests over only with the Host Family's express permission.

The Facilitator agrees to…

Respond to any disagreements, reports, or disputes within {amount of time} of contact from the Student, the Host Family, or authorities.

To mediate disputes between the Student and the Host Family.

To help the Student find other accommodations should the Host Family or Student require a change to the living situation.

To facilitate payment between the Student and Host Family if necessary.

To check in on the Student {frequency} and make a report to {office}.
