Child Pet Agreement
_______________________ (hereafter "Guardian") and _______________________ (hereafter "Child"), _______________________ hereby agree to the following:
The Child has proven that {he/she} is a responsible and organized household participant and is ready for {his/her} own pet (hereafter "the Pet"). The Guardian agrees that the Child is ready for a {breed/animal} with {restriction(s)}.
The Child understands that the Pet is not a toy. It must be treated with kindness, love, and respect. This is also not an optional chore. The Pet is a living creature and must be taken care of every single day. The Guardian will not rehome the Pet if the Child does not care for it, because that would be difficult and traumatic for the Pet. If the Child does a poor job of caring for the Pet, other consequences such as {punishment} will take place instead.
The Child and the Guardian will pick out the Pet together. The Child may name the Pet anything as long as it is not mean or inappropriate.
The Guardian will pay for the Pet's adoption, registration, licensing, shots, medical check-ups, food, and equipment (such as {cage, tank, collar, water feeder, leash, litter, carrier, etc.}).
The Child will feed the Pet {amount} every {frequency}.
The Child will take the Pet out for exercise for {amount of time} every {frequency}.
The Child may give the Pet {number} treats every {frequency}.
The Child will clean the {Pet/tank/cage/dishes} every {frequency}.
If the Pet can be trained, the Child will participate in the training.
If the Pet makes a mess, the Child will clean it up promptly and without complaint.
The Child will not feed the Pet anything unless that food is approved the Guardian.
The Pet will sleep in {place} every night.
The Pet will not be permitted in {places}.
In witness to their agreement to the terms of this contract, the parties affix their signatures below:
